SA IYONG PAGBABALIK...

When a minor character in the Israeli film Jellyfish, ended her own life, she left a note that for her would aptly conveys what she felt at that time. It was a Hebrew poem Meduzot, by Shera Geffen, and succesfully incorporated to the outline of the film's message. Her poetry borders on surrealism like the magical scenes on the film itself. I hereby translated it here.

But to translate jellyfish* in Tagalog gives me head-ache and I'm stumped. Does anybody know the meaning of it in Tagalog?

'Pagkat walang layag kundi kap'rasong trapo la'ang
At sa laylaya'y, puno ng igad*, nanga-uuhaw;
Mananatiling mataas at marayag.
Giliw...pakiusap
Sa 'yong pagababalik...siya'y hagkan!

JELLYFISH (MEDUZOT)

This film is a rich imaginative portrait of different women emotionally adrift in Tel Aviv. It explores Israelis frame of mind in unique fashion. It garnered Camera D' Or at 2007 Cannes Film Festival.

I find the movie very lyrical. But the most surprising to me is the minor story and appearance of certain, Ma. Nenita Dela Torre who played the role as a migrant worker trying to support his son oceans away.

Co-directed by husband and wife, Edgar Keret and Shira Geffen, Jellyfish, is a witty and warm reflection on making connections and confronting destiny in a deconstructed urban settings.
