My 14 yrs old son doesn't know current events much less interested to what I'm following. All he cared about is his Runescapes games and absolution 'porn' site. He's actually bitching about re-installing programs to our fatally wreck killed well to do refurbished personal computer. And to him this blog can suck a cat. Take note of that Bill Gates! So I told him that I'd buy him a new software once he finished his assignments and follow his mom's requests. Kids these days never listen. But thinks they knew everything. Until current events became the topic on our dinner table. What exactly is NAFTA? Nafta-scmatcha, I realized he wasn't born yet when this act or agreement was signed, so to the best of my ability I became his Daddypedia.

NAFTA stands for North American Free Trade Agreement, which was ratified during the tenure of then Prime Minister Brian Mulroney with counterpart President Bill Clinton of USA and President Vicente Fox of Mexico. The goal of this agreement is to eliminate tariff on buying trades between the three North American countries. It's a good trading agreement nonetheless but not everyone are happy about it. It's not perfect for in some degrees, it obliterated jobs. The soft wood lumber industry for instance became a rift source between US and Canada. The latter country was allegedly subsidizing lumber to American market, thus in turn, US was withholding million and millions of dollars in payments. It's back in the news lately because of Senator Barack Obama's promise to re-open NAFTA for negotiation once he become the next president. And now even Canadian House of Commons are in doldrum because of it.

To make a looong story short, Maybe we also need a new election up here in OTTAWA. HAHAHAHA
