EDMONTON GLOUREIA!

Since Sunday morning, January 27, Edmonton felt the brunt of winter storm. Minus 30 degrees Celsius is what most Edmontonians are braving nowadays and no relief is in sight as the forecast says that it would remain until at leastThursday. Oh my! By 11 a.m. I had to wait for ETS bus 181 which didn't came to this east-northenmost godforsaken suburb. So I decided to come back to my mother's place and ask baby sis Budda to drive me to at least the Clairview train station. The road is already bad and we keep slippin' and slidin'.

This weather also wreak havoc to my kumare ContraVida after helping loca Yolanda, her friend, boost her car. Then afterwards, she in turn cross path to an oncoming ricocheting car. Tried as she may to avoid it, she couldn't. She too was skidding like swan lake so her van was now a total wreck after being smashed hit head on and sides. It's really bad luck, cause that van was just recently vandalized and $200 worth of glass window replacement were done. But I should say that she's lucky to be alive. An Angel is still looking out for her from above. I say, it's not yet her time (knock on wood) considering the horrific look of her driver's side ( I sense money and litigation is on the way, hehehe).

Frigid weather such like this is very normal on Edmonton especially these days and believe you me, I'm not complaining. Just learn how to bundle up properly and you'll be alright. But one can still sympathize with the homeless on how they'd survive. Let's hope Mayor Mandel do something about their plight.

Just don't expect me to shovel the walkways anytime soon cause its hurting my back. And by the way Mom, Lapuks, Budha, Abe, Bida, and Santa welcome back to Edmonton. C'est Gloureia!

ME BABUJI ~ JANVIER DAILY

What an eerie resemblance, the more I stare and peel my eyes off this Pinoy basketballer-actor, the more I see my father. When Dad was of the same age as Janvier Daily, I swear to Hari Krishna, Jallah, and Dje-ovah that what I'm beholding is my sweet be-Jesus Taytay. The chinito eyes, medium-pointed nose, high-cheek bones, full and rounded lips, and most especially the large pointed-top ears, are notably alike to my dear Papa.

As some of you well may know that exactly a month ago today, when Dad suddenly passed away. He was visiting the Philippines when he succumbed to his traitorous heart ailment. He was pronounced DOA on private Manila hospital.

In a way I wasn't at all sad for his passing because I remember the last conversation we had. When I last visited him he looked so lonely staring by the window. And out of the blue, told me that he wont be around much longer. I'm quite not sure what my reply was. But I somehow sense that what he's saying would come true much sooner than later. I think I just calmly listened to him the way I listened to his father, my Lolo, who foresaw his own end, which I distinctly remembered when I was 15.

But what really makes me sad was the fact that we were not on his side when he died. A day before Christmas, according to my cousins, when he felt uneasy and collapsed. Most probably he had cardiac arrest. It was all sudden and no final goodbyes and last words or wills were uttered.

For some unfortunate circumstances, I wasn't able to give my father the final respect that he deserved. Only my mom, four sisters, and brother-in-law were able to flew back home to laid him to rest. My baby sister was so scared to view my dad's wake for she said that every time she do, something peculiar was happening. Like whenever she'd come closer to his wake, lights or air conditioner are going off. Or some things would violently fall aside. I could only interpret these that my Dad was probably trying to say something. I should know better because he visited me in my dreams.

I wasn't at all afraid. I felt his presence as if telling me something. I was looking for some things, I'm not really sure what, but something important. And while I'm dreaming this, I somehow felt clammy and cold. Then I felt some wheezing air through my ears. I also felt dizzy during this semi-conscious state. And my body felt so heavy and stiff, I could not move. I knew all along that I was practically talking with him.

I'm consoling myself now to what could be his final words, especially to me. And I remember he was telling me when he was still alive: "Stop gambling, and take good care of P--- N-----, my apokong". He's referring to his grandchild, my boy, my 14 yrs old son whom he adores.

The day before he died, I was actually posting an entry on my blogs elsewhere about his resemblance to Janvier Daily, and I'm shuddering now to think that I was actually communing with my Father. I even found a video about a coke can that greets Merry Christmas when pulled by a string. And for some strange reasons I re-titled it to Merry X-mas POP! Hardly ever did I know that my Tatay by just a day would be no more.

My Dad outlived all the members of his family clan. He was 75 years old.

RIP Dad...Me Babuji!

MELBOURNE SLUGFEST

Novak Djokovic of Serbia defeated Swiss Roger Federer 7-5, 6-3, 7-6, (7-5) at Australian Open semi-final round. Nole served a stunning performance in front of more than fifteen thousand spectators inside and outside Rod Laver Arena. True and commanding play by number 3 seed dethroning the defending champ and number 1 seed Federer.

At post match interview Federer acknowledged the decisive display of the Serbian. Feds was really upset for creating such a 'monster'.

Djokovic will meet Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France on Sunday's final. Could this be a new era in tennis?

CLINT O'H BUMMER

So the race is on, south of the border eh? No matter who wins the USA presidential election, one thing is sure, that its gonna be a candidate from the liberal. How Democrat? That's the big if on the equation. As long as white elephant never trampled back into Casa Blanco, I know who is going to be happy to see that day. After all, Bush and his cohorts had their share of power already and their days are now numbered. Its time for a new era. Government is just in cycle, and whoever is in the throne, I don't see so much hope for the future. Its all the same ball crap.

But my Dad is now gone. He's no longer around to watch and relish the excitement of this presidential race. He'd been following this contest since Kennedy. And the guy leader named after a vacuum machine. Even when we were still on the other side of the continent. President after president came and went: Nixon, Carter, Ford, Reagan, Clinton. Bush, Bush (not necessary in that order). They've all passed and gone although some still linger around. My Dad was attune to CNN. He was more American, than Canadian in terms of viewing channel.

So nowadays, the heat is on about choosing presidential candidate on primary level, right? Who shall prevail? Barbra or Oprah? Err a woman or Obama? Clinton or a Black man? Hillary or Barrack? No matter how you put it, race and gender is in the cards! And America is in for a grueling but exciting fight to the finish. And the world, PRAY, will still be the same.

BROKEBACK NO MORE

Heath Ledger the actor of Brokeback Mountain was found dead at Kate Olsen New York apartment this afternoon. Speculations abounds as to the cause of his death. He was 28.

----------------------------------------------
Accidental Death
Medical examiners cited OXYCODON, HYDROCODONE, DIAZEPAM, TEMAZEPAM, ALPRAZOLAM, and DOXYLAMINE as causing the actor's death. What a fatal concoction.

THE IDIOT BOX

I don't know about you, but I'm not really a fan of any t.v. programs except one or two. There's nothing on television that really get my attention nowadays. And I hate watching, period! And I don't care what's the latest fad or craze which i could get anyway via web surfing. The cable and any network shows, to me are plain dumb. Dumb as a big bell dangling that rat's assess especially this Chinese new year. Year of the Rat. Was it coincidence that American economy is somewhat downhill? At least they could blame this to the unlucky(?) sign of the rodent. Or maybe because of Bush who for all intent and purposes decided to take care of the slumping American business too late. And that all over the world is being felt like a rippling wave effect. Welcome to Black Monday. Up here, their neighbor to the north, Harper is soh nervous that he's actually watching the cousin-brother Bush about the inevitable crash or decline of their empire. My assessment may sound harsh but let's be serious here, ok? I think I know enough what I'm saying is true because after all, I'm still contributing to this economy err falling economy or what's left of it.

Notice how even aliens are visiting Texas these days, that several unidentified flying spacecraft were spotted hovering? And in an instant go pffp!! Gone...Hhhmm... What could be the reasons besides warning us for impending doom. The globe is probably being prepared for a new beginning, a new presidency or better yet a new television blockbusters. Remember American screenwriters are yet to come back from their strike. T.V host Jay Leno seemed to be the catalyst for the writers' association for finally coming to their senses. But until then I'd settle watching a fireplace on my idiot box. And if I grew tired of this ridiculous concept, I might as well flip it to frequency or amplitude channels. At least here, they're showing a rising scales or whatever that is that surely is the envy of dwindling stock markets.

EVA UND VINCENT

Pinoy Vincent Bueno duets with Eva Klikovic on this Austrian Musical-Die Show.

("So wunderschon...eigentlich halten alle drei es verdient zu siegen Aber ingewisserWeise sind sieja alle sieger." -- Bat Catherine.)

Vincent Bueno is a pure bred Filipino who was hailed in Austria. He bagged the Musical Die Show feted against several European contestants, with this ala-'American Idol' contest, chosen by text and phone votes.

Vincent's eventual win is not a 'walk in the park'. He had to endure several musical casting call as can be seen on related videos.

NICOLE LOVE SET...

MATCH!

Watching Australian Open tonight and nice to see Nicole Kidman sharing a tennis love match with hubby Keith Urban. They left early though and never finished the game between Novak Djokovic and Lleyton Hewitt.

Djokovic dismissed Hewitt in straight sets 7-5, 6-3, 6-3.

WHERE IN THE WORLD IS...

Bal au Moulin de la Galette, Montmartre. This is one of the world's most expensive painting ($110,420,000) by French impressionist Pierre-Auguste Renoir.

The last person who had it was a Japanese businessman Ryoei Saito, who died in 1996, and cause a furore among arts world for having said that he liked to be cremated with this masterpiece. He was just joking of course, and it was held since then by groups that holds interests with it.

But just recently this painting was sold again to an undisclosed buyer(s) for a lot lesser value. Who or which group could possibly possess this painting. Don't you just wish you knew?

SA GILID NG LANGIT

bawat buhay
ay may nabubuong
mga kwento at kasaysayan
may makulay malungkot
masaya masalimuot
maganda malihim at magulo
bunga ito marahil ng kasalatan ng tao
kung kaya't siya'y laging naghahanap
nagsisikhay at umaasam
makamit lang ang langit na gusto

maraming tulad nito sa mundo...
Ikaw... Siya at Ako
...sa loob ng kasaysayang
singlawak ng uniberso

at doon mula roo'y
nabuo nabuhay nagkamalay
ang tuwat hinampo
mumunting kaligayahang
bahagi ng misteryo
ganyan nga... ganyan nga tayo
tulad sa awiting
nagsasabing...
sa palad ko't sa palad mo'y
manipis ang gilid ng langit.

DOES DARK MATTER MATTERS

Scientists all over the planet are congratulating themselves for mapping out the elusive ~ dark matter ~ the unseen energy force in the vast universe.

Since I for one is not certain about what is dark matter, nor that I am professing to be knowledgeable on the subject, does dark matter really matters? No really, should I go directly to wikipedia now and try to be informed about this black square to our left?

Try as I may, I only got more confused to the necessity of finding out what comprised a dark matter. This is more problematic to me for as much as proving the existence of a soul. No wonder men are what they are because they are being influenced by unseen matters. Are you?

JAYWALKING ADVENTURE

twenty3giL demonstrate in the middle of the night how to jaywalk safely. This good looking fellow from the Philippines is very lucky to avoid impending accident...crossing the street "paspas" meaning as fast as you can...maybe next time he won't be as lucky hehehe as local traffic is really insane and notorious for a casual accident. Thanks dude you just might save a wandering soul...

RIGA HERE WE COME

At last this Globe Watcher got a visitor from Russia. Because a recent peek reader I got from my Feedjit account says Riga. If I'm not mistaken Riga is an inlet from the Baltic. It's also the capital, chief port and industrial center of Latvia USSR.

Well well well...in time this blog page would be truly global. And meanwhile, I'll browse my Anna Karenina, Tolstoy, Dostovyesky, The Idiot, and other Russian materials...

CHARICE ~ TO LOVE YOU MORE

NETHERLANDS' YUNFENGFUI

A great production from a very gifted musician yungfengfui. Here he is on a self collaboration with a Clazzical Project's piece.

(LET'S F*CUK) KAY SUSAN TAYO

Pinoy Ignition

Kapag ako'y nag-iisa, madalas akong nagbabate
Madalas ginagawa ko ito, bago pa man tumae
Iniisip kong parate ay aking only dream girl
She is very very sexy, what's her name...I won't tell

Babaeng maikama, siguradong manlalata
Sa pagbayo matutuyo ang puke niyang basang-basa. (One more time ...)

Veyntsingko isang kabet, tagusan hanggang puwet
Titi ko'y tuwang-tuwa, puke niyang magang-maga
Sa sobrang sarap, parang ngayoy umeepa
Lahat ng posisyon ay gusto na niyang i-try
Never never never siyang nagbibigay
Kung minsan'y masaket pag siya'y dry na dry
Sa lake ng nota ko lagi siyang umaaray.

(Dialouge: Aray aray! Tigas tigas! Bat may gatas? Sa uulitin...)

CHARICE ~ ALL BY MYSELF

Charice is 'All By Myself' with this high rendition while I am beside myself with awe...For the first time, once again from FalseVoice2's copyrighted video...duly noted!

D JESUSRRECTION OVA BASTARD

Boy, I thought that my favorite blogger has already annihilated himself. It's been almost over a month since he launched his new domain... a "free community website" for blogger enthusiasts as it was called. It can't be missed coz it has a kool penguin as a banner. The said domain hoped to beat friendster but it somehow or apparently stagnate due to lack of interest among its members? To date it has 82 members, moi included. It supposed to be prolific but sad to say, on my view, it only gotten to the point of secrecy. I have written several articles on this site already but yet to post them, as I've yet to decide if this is where should I continue to place my thoughts and efforts. This domain you see, is trying to generate revenues which I'm not really against but simply could not put myself into. It's like pimping yourself to corporate world. That's why until now I chose not to have friends on this website as I'm not willing or be with young people who are somehow attracted to my profile...especially those guys with gay tendencies oops...cross that out. Or befriended by a penguin that really spooked me. I'm actually interested with this Yellow guy who for all intent and purposes has the ability to transform the world...with a different perspective, engaging, but sadly very secretive egg yolk colored guy.

Just recently, I stumbled that this Yellow fellow is back onto blogging. To my delight and surprise, he jesurrected himself by his blog that bear his own name plus the hard hitting byline as bastard philosopher. I can only surmise that he is so lonely at his own baby community website since nobody ever reply to his dare on starting a forum or whatnot. Hence the comeback. Coz if I remember correctly, he confessed that he no longer want to blog with his own name (hhhmm i wonde why...was it dorky?) Well anyhoo, we should be thankful that he is back. Because the world is not the same without ehem!!

I still could not get the original pix of Darte, and according to my couz Robert, Edgar was blind, hence the sunglass. Now I understand what you mean about the smileys we were talking about. So sad that he was now dead but left us a poignant song to remember him by. Bakit ganun? Almost all of famous singers are now in heaven? Elvis, Eddie Peregrina, Kurt Cobain...Are they having concerts up there? Hhhhhmmm!!! ARCADE
